Our Retreats
Since 2021, we’ve offered virtual and in-person writing retreats
inspired by the spiritual works of the late Madeleine L’Engle.
We’ve hosted fall events at such locations as Wisdom House in Litchfield CT (near Madeleine’s beloved Crosswicks) and the Northern Michigan town of Petoskey, which hosts the annual C. S. Lewis Festival. Along the way, we’ve also offered a virtual option for those who can’t make it in person—an experience that draws attendees from all three U.S. time zones plus around the world!
Beginning in 2025, we switched to an every-other-year model for the in-person retreat (plus a virtual option), while holding online-only retreats in the off-years. We always love to engage new and returning retreatants in a full weekend designed to spark insight, foster connections, deepen your reading, and lend structure to your writing and spiritual life.
Will you join us?
What to expect:
A lovely mix of large group plenaries, smaller cohorts, and optional morning/evening prayer, interspersed with creativity prompts and long stretches of solo writing for an enriching and generative experience.
Come with a project you’re already working on, or see where our curated writing prompts take you!
L’Engle Writing Retreats are open to anyone in any stage of their writing journey.
As a bonus, all registrants will receive links to the recorded sessions afterwards along with access to all digital materials (handouts, prompts, etc.). So even if you can’t attend in real time, you’ll have the chance to enjoy your own retreat later.
